The Nikko Works of the FURUKAWA ELECTRIC CO., LTD. is a place of business that includes the Production Technology Division, a copper mill plant, metal research facilities, and a number of group companies.
We manufacture copper and copper alloy bars, wires, rods, superconductive materials, memory disks, power line parts, and other components. Furthermore, we are forging ahead in the leading-edge technology while researching metal materials, application products, and production technology.

I belong to the Production Technology Division, which mainly develops process equipment used for the research, development, and designing of factory installations while offering technical consultation services for comprehensive engineering.

We combine machines jointly developed with each specialized manufacturer and add original manufacturing technique and equipment technology, and provide ourselves as well as our domestic and overseas subsidiaries with factory, equipment, and production technologies that comply with customers’ requirements that are making changes from day to day.

Attaching importance to people has been our corporate philosophy since the time of foundation. In compliance with the corporate philosophy, we share targets with each specialized manufacturer and continue a relationship to build the world’s number one equipment jointly.
It is not just a relationship between a seller and buyer. Each specialized manufacturer is a good business partner, and we can work together and continue a challenge toward the same purpose.
We have been continuing a challenge with IKUTA, and developing together with IKUTA as a good partner.

IKUTA’s double-side milling equipment and cutter grinder are powerful, excellent in cost effectiveness, highly accurate, and very sturdy.
Overseas manufacturers also produce double-side milling equipment. However, only IKUTA’s equipment accepts a plate thickness of 1,200 mm and produce high-quality materials. We have been using the same equipment for more than 30 years, and we would like to continue using it with further improvements in the future.

At our request, IKUTA developed a six-axis grinder for 1,500-mm-wide super-hard blades jointly with us. An engineering staff member of a certain major control equipment manufacturer surprisingly said, “We have never seen such a machine with six axes that maintain an index precision of several microns.”
IKUTA provides us with high-precision equipment like this.

Moreover, IKUTA quickly responds to our flexible requests and has a challenging spirit.
IKUTA replaced the material of its cutter tips from high-speed steel to WC carbide and became the industry’s first manufacture to comply with an increasing demand for high-quality, high-productivity equipment. Furthermore, we think that IKUTA’s arrangements in China started in a timely manner.

IKUTA’s technical staff members visit us frequently and exchange opinions with our operators.
We can tell them their requirements face-to-face and they respond to our requirements exactly.

We need help from each specialized equipment manufacturer in order to attain our targets.
As long as IKUTA provides us with good equipment, we can manufacture good products.
We cannot make a success unless we mutually offer our technologies and talk frankly together.
